Dr Sally El Haddad, Professor of Pathology at Ain Shams University, Cairo with Club President Sue Doughty at our monthly dinner on 3rd January 2018. We were delighted to welcome Sally who talked about her work in Pathology and then more extensively about opportunities for women in Egypt. With our concerns about Female Genital Mutilation, Early Marriage for Girls, Political and Educational Opportunities it became clear that real progress is being made in all these areas in Egypt. Change takes time but the raising of the minimum age for marriage to 18 will make a real difference for many young women as will the outlawing of FGM.

President Linda van As welcomes Cllr Gordon Jackson, the Deputy Mayor of Guildford, when we hosted an event presenting the issue of Forced Labour, via a "GIFTbox" during the weekend of 13th/14th June 2015. The event was aimed at raising awareness of human trafficking, and informing visitors about action they can take against it
